Students are required to complete 20 Carnegie Units for graduation. These 20 Carnegie Units must include the requirements listed under the General Track Curriculum. Grade Point Average will be computed only on Carnegie Units.
The college Preparatory Track Curriculum is designed to include those courses outlined by the Mississippi State Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning for admission to senior colleges within the state. Listed below are the minimum entrance requirements for all students entering these institutions.
English ....................4 units
Math ......................4 units
(Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II)
Social Studies..............4 units
(American History, American Government, World History, and Economics or Geography required)
Science....................4 units
(Must be chosen from Biology I, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Advanced Biology)
Computer..................1 unit
Advanced Electives..........2 units
(One unit must be a Foreign Language or World Geography and the other unit must be an Advanced Math or Advanced Science)
A diploma will be awarded upon successful completion of the General Track Curriculum. This curriculum consists of 20 Carnegie Units and includes the following:
English...................4 units
Social Studies ...........3 units
Mathematics.............2 units (Algebra I required)
Science..................2 units
Five academic subjects are required for all students in grades 9-12. Twenty academic units are required for graduation.
